Esocite 2016 1.0

The Latin American Association of Social Studies of Science and Technology (ESOCITE), the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) and ESOCITE-BR invite all researchers related to the Studies Social Sciences, Technology and Innovation to participate in the XI LATIN AMERICAN DAYS OF SOCIAL STUDIES OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ESOCITE 2016: ESOCITE 21 Years: Plural trajectories between past and future.

The Latin American Symposium on Social Studies of Science and Technology (ESOCITE) will be held in Brazil, in the city of Curitiba, between July 25 and 28, 2016. This edition is of special importance because, besides celebrating symbolically the majority of social studies of science and technology in Latin America, will be the first event in which ESOCITE will be legally formalized.

Although this is a minor factor in the reality of the concrete articulation through networks, research groups, postgraduate programs and publications, occurred over the years, it is significant for pointing out the new levels of institutionalization in the present and indicate potentialities of future development.

This moment of institutional formalization stimulates us to reflect on the multiple research groups that, for several decades, have elaborated the thinking about Science, Technology and Society (CTS) in the region, calls us to analyze the proliferation of perspectives and approaches in the present , and challenges us to think about the different possible configurations of the CTS field in the future.
